Fender fuse the Stratocaster and Jazzmaster for new Parallel Universe Strat Jazz Deluxe

Words by Will Brewster

Get the best of both worlds.

Few guitars can top the coolness of the Jazzmaster’s offset contours, but still, you just can’t beat a Stratocaster when it comes to tonal versatility. Thankfully, Fender have bridged the gap between the two iconic guitars with the new Strat Jazz Deluxe, the latest addition to the brand’s unique Parallel Universe Vol. II series.

You’ve probably already picked up on this, but essentially, the Strat Jazz Deluxe combines the eye-catching design of the Fender Jazzmaster with the electrical appointments of its slightly more conventional cousin, the Stratocaster.

The instrument pairs an offset body with a trio of Texas Special single coil pickups, doing away with the Jazzmaster’s clunky roller controls and adding in a two-point American Pro Strat tremolo bridge for optimised whammy action.

However, the Strat Jazz Deluxe is more than just another Frankenstein build for Fender. The guitar is complemented with a number of top-grade appointments, including a figured flame maple top over its bound alder body, with a gold anodised pickguard being included for good measure.

There’s also the notable inclusion of a modern C-shape rosewood neck – a rarity for Fenders of this ilk – with a laser-etched Fender logo on the headstock and ClassicGear tuners to boot.

The Fender Strat Jazz Deluxe is finished in a cool Transparent Faded Seafood Green finish, and ships in a fitted hardshell case with a certificate of authenticity.
