Courtney Barnett announces live-streamed concert from Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building

Words by Will Brewster

It all goes down on Thursday December 17.

After spending much of 2020 under lockdown in Melbourne, Courtney Barnett has announced a global live-stream from the city’s Royal Exhibition Building next month.

Partnering with Driift, the team who staged Nick Cave’s acclaimed Idiot Prayer concert earlier this year, Barnett’s From Where I’m Standing will serve as the singer-songwriter’s first show since her bushfire benefit gigs at the Corner Hotel back in January. The show will also be made available to stream for audiences spanning multiple time zones around the world.

The show will see Barnett regroup with band members Bones Sloane and Dave Mudie, as well as cellist Lucy Waldron, to perform a number of classics from her back catalogue in addition to some brand new material, hinting at the prospect of further new releases to come in 2021.

From Where I’m Standing will stream live at 8pm AEDT on Thursday December 17, while a select few fans can also watch the event live from a number of cinemas around Australia.

Tickets for Courtney Barnett’s From Where I’m Standing live-stream go on sale here from 9am AEDT this Friday November 27.
