Fittingly, the episode will be filmed in Barnett’s own stomping ground of Brunswick at Howler, and will go down on Tuesday October 22. In a statement heralding the announcement, Barnett expressed her enthusiasm in the lead up to her performance, saying that “I’m looking forward to coming home and playing MTV Unplugged Melbourne with my wonderful band and a few very special guests. It’s been fun to re-arrange my songs and sometimes revisit where they started as demos. Gonna try a few new things.”
Barnett also reflected on the nostalgia that I’m sure many of us associate with the iconic MTV Unplugged performances of the ’90s, noting “In my house growing up we had Nirvana Unplugged and Clapton Unplugged on repeat and I discovered a whole new world of music through the cover songs.”
The performance is set to air on MTV some time in November, so stay tuned for more details when they arrive shortly, and make sure to register for tickets below.
