Ben Folds, Kate Miller-Heidke + more announced for Sydney’s Sunset Piazza

Words by Will Brewster

Playing to a limited capacity of 350 per show.

Sunset Piazza, Sydney’s latest pop-up venue, has announced a stack of music and comedy acts to play a run of shows deep into March, rounding out their 2021 season with a bang.

As an extension of January’s Sydney Festival, the concert series will be led by US singer-songwriter wunderkind Ben Folds, who’ll be playing an uncharacteristically small show to a lucky handful of fans at the tail end of February.

Ben Folds will be joined by the likes of avant-pop star Kate Miller-Heidke and Josh Pyke, as well as Winston Surfshirt, PNAU, G Flip, Ruby Fields, All Our Exes Live In Texas and the mighty Pete Murrary.

In addition to the musical talent, Sunset Piazza will play host to a range of comedic acts, including Wil Anderson, Oliver Twist and Danielle Walker, with tickets to all events costing a mere $25.

“The Sydney Festival is thrilled to curate this authentic summer program, collaborating with the City of Sydney and NSW Government to invite Sydneysiders back to the CBD in a COVID safe environment,” Sydney Festival Artistic Director Olivia Ansell said in a statement shared today.

“‘Sunset Piazza’ is reigniting Sydney’s night-time economy, offering $25 tickets to a first-class line-up of Australian talent, while also employing hundreds of artists and crew, which is another important step towards industry recovery.”
