Akai Professional has announced a red colourway for the MPK Mini IV, its compact MIDI controller packed with MPC pads, Scale and Chord modes, an enhanced arpeggiator and a bundled software instrument collection.
Akai Professional’s MPK Mini IV is now available in red. The new colourway joins the existing lineup for one of the most popular compact MIDI controllers around, with everything that made the original worth talking about still intact.

For anyone unfamiliar with the MPK Mini IV, it packs a serious amount into a small design. There are 25 velocity-sensitive keys on a third-generation keybed, eight RGB-backlit MPC pads that respond to both velocity and pressure, real pitch and mod wheels, eight assignable 360-degree knobs and an expanded transport section. A full-colour screen handles real-time feedback and navigation, keeping things straightforward without requiring a laptop in front of you.
When it comes to performance, Scale and Chord modes let players stay in key and build progressions without a theory degree, while an enhanced arpeggiator adds Pattern, Freeze and Mutate functions for those who like to let happy accidents do some of the work.
Connectivity covers USB-C, a full-size 5-pin MIDI output and a sustain pedal input. Pre-programmed scripts for Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Bitwig and Cubase mean it’s ready to go out of the box with most major DAWs.
The MPK Mini IV also ships with the Studio Instrument Collection – a software synth exclusive to this controller with over 1,000 presets from AIR, Akai Pro and Moog, pre-mapped for direct control without touching a mouse. NKS integration through a partnership with Native Instruments adds a free Komplete 15 Select Bundle on top of that, plus a licence for Ableton Live Lite 12 and free trials of Melodics and Splice.
