The Fart Pedal: Number Two, potentially the dumbest pedal ever made, has been named a finalist in the Musical Instrument Amplification & Effects category of the 2027 NAMM TEC Awards.
The ultimate cure for GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) joins a field that includes products from EarthQuaker Devices, Eventide Audio, Line 6, MESA/Boogie, and Dirty Boy. For creator Steve Gadlin, it’s just another reminder that the business of making music is all about having fun.

The TEC Awards have long recognised the gear that shapes the sound of modern music, typically spotlighting technical innovation from the industry’s most established manufacturers. The Fart Pedal’s inclusion in that company marks a shift, with novelty and technical merit no longer treated as mutually exclusive — a nod, perhaps, to the idea that gear can be both a genuine engineering achievement and, well, very silly.
“The Fart Pedal: Number Two turns guitar noises into fart noises. It’s a shock and an honor to be on a list with some of these other companies,” said Gadlin. “I’m delighted, validated, and only slightly concerned about what this means for the future of the industry.”
The Fart Pedal: Number Two builds on the original Fart Pedal with a pitch-tracking mode and a blend knob. It can be found on the pedalboards of guitar and bass luminaries like Scott Ian, Mick Thomson, and Ashley Reeve. After spending a few minutes with The Fart Pedal: Number Two, Wolfgang Van Halen said, “I need one.”
Gadlin will exhibit The Fart Pedal: Number Two at The NAMM Show in January 2027, where he also plans to unveil a new addition to the lineup.
