Blackstar has added a third channel to its Fly mini amp platform. The Fly High Gain keeps the Clean and Overdrive channels from the original Fly 3, then adds a new Nitro channel voiced for metal, hard rock and punk, with a built-in noise gate to keep the higher gain tight. The amp runs on the same sealed cabinet design and custom 3-inch speaker as the standard Fly, a platform that’s sold more than a million units worldwide. Blackstar’s Infinite Shape Feature carries over too, letting players dial their tone anywhere between a tight American voice and a mid-heavy British one. An analogue-style delay is built in for solos and leads, there’s an Aux input for jamming along to backing tracks, and an emulated headphone output covers silent practice or direct recording.
The amp runs on batteries, so it’s suitable for taking on tour as much as it is at home. Players after more volume can pair it with the optional Fly 103 extension cabinet for a stereo mini rig.
Similar to Blackstar’s flagship Series One MK 11 amps, the Fly High Gain comes with a new grille, a brushed control panel and a metal logo replacing the standard Fly’s finish.
