The C-800G is also known as ‘The Uzi’ in rap circles because of its unique heat sink but it is not limited to the genre, with Sony originally building the mic to be a modern alternative to the old standards like the U47, C12 in the Pop, Rock and Country studios of Los Angeles and Nashville.
Warm Audio CEO Bryce Young said “the WA-8000 is faithfully inspired by the most iconic hip-hop and R&B microphone ever designed”.
“We spent a ton of time developing the WA-8000, making sure all of the premium components worked together magically to produce the classic R&B sound we all know and love,” he said.
Warm Audio has built a reputation for making awesome affordable gear of the equipment of years gone, so the WA-8000 just might be the mic you have been waiting for.
The faithful reproduction features the same old stock 6AU6 and the unique external heat sink design as the C-800G with a Swedish-made Lundahl transformer.
The recreation also features a Neumann K67-styled capsule wired straight to the tube to optimise the capture of subtle nuances.
With clear midrange and open top end, the WA-8000’s ability to capture every detail of vocal performances gives you the true sound of modern R&B and Hip hop for good value.
