Universal Audio has released UAD Topline Vocal Tune, a native pitch correction plugin for Mac and PC that offers ultra-low-latency monitoring, genre-flexible tuning and creative pitch and formant controls.
Vocal pitch correction plugins have had a bit of a moment lately. UAD Topline Vocal Tune does have something that separates it from the pack, though: ultra-low-latency monitoring that lets singers hear corrected pitch through headphones in real time, without the distracting delay that makes so many pitch correction setups frustrating to track through.
Latency through a pitch correction plugin can derail a session – singers lose confidence, takes suffer, and the whole thing becomes more trouble than it’s worth. Senior Product Designer Julian Prindle explains the thinking behind Topline, stating, “When singers feel good in their headphones, that’s when great takes happen. Topline helps artists stay confident and in the moment while giving producers everything they need to shape vocals behind the scenes.” Just like a live performer wants reverb in their foldback to sing confidently, Topline lets singers hear a corrected vocal in their headphones without that correction being baked into the take.

Tuning style runs from a single dial, covering transparent natural correction through to the hard-tuned sound that defines a lot of hip-hop, R&B and pop. Natural Voice settings aim to preserve performance character rather than sand it flat. Beyond standard correction, Shift Mode opens up independent Pitch and Formant controls for more creative reshaping of a vocal. MIDI Repitching turns a vocal into a playable instrument, useful for building melodic hooks and harmonies without reaching for a synth. A built-in Key Finder automatically detects and locks to any key and scale, which is a handy time-saver when the session is moving quickly.
Topline Vocal Tune runs natively on Mac and PC and is compatible with all major DAWs. It’s also included in the UAD Spark subscription for existing subscribers.
