Home is three very different places for Vikki Thorn, Donna Simpson and Josh Cunningham. Thorn is now located in Fremantle, after eight years in Minneapolis, Simpson lives in Utah and Cunningham splits his time between California and the New South Wales south coast.
Given the distance, and the fact that the band have hardly seen each other since touring in 2011, it is little surprise that they found it difficult to get this new album going when they finally got in a room together.
Originally, they abandoned their trademark of writing songs separately and tried to work on some tunes in a cooperative manner, but that quickly stagnated and lead to a moment of frustration in which Thorn stormed off and wrote a song, opening the floodgates for the album.
The album was recorded in January 2015 with their regular rhythm section of drummer Dave Ross Macdonald and bassist Ben Franz in Byron Bay, and it will be supported by a 24-date national tour, starting in September.
