SHIMMERLANDS ANNOUNCES FREE OUTDOOR GIGS FOR JANUARY

Mick Turner

The live music will happen on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the month between 5pm-7pm, so summer patrons can enjoy the outdoor setting, without having to fear its heat.

The public holiday of January 26 will be celebrated with a special show by Bärra, a group from the Birrtjimi community in Arnhem Land who play the music of their land mixed with handfuls of reggae, ska and gospel. This will be something special, so make sure to check it out.

On Saturdays DJ Andee Frost has programmed a huge lineup of DJs and electronic artists, who will each be performing sets from 1pm-7pm. These include Otologic and The First Baboon Civilization Orchestra, Brooke Powers, River Yarra and more.

The announcement comes only a week after Shimmerlands unveiled the first part of programming for their outdoor cinema, which amongst other things will feature several new music documentaries about Nick Cave, Sharon Jones, Oasis and several others.
