Taking over the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) as a festival hub for nine full days, MMW is set to highlight some of the city’s best and most unique venues, including Section 8, Flemington Bowls Club, the State Library, the NGV Great Hall, Ferdyduke and the Meat Market.
A huge show at Melbourne’s Town Hall will see You Am I bolster their debut MMW performance with special guest support slots from Gareth Liddiard and Clowns. Other live music highlights from the program include the Civic Sounds party at Cherry Bar, featuring performances from Regurgitator and Hiatus Kaiyote’s Nai Palm as part of an all-day music celebration.
The Push is pulling out all the stops for its 30th year celebrations, throwing a free party at Federation Square. The all-ages event will boast performances from Allday, Ali Barter, Ruby Fields and Kian, plus special guests Jebediah, Spiderbait and Something for Kate.
MMW’s beloved Live Music Safari will also return, spanning 13 of Melbourne’s favourite venues including Section 8, Max Watts, Cherry Bar, Loop Bar, The Toff, Ferdyduke and more. The week is topped off with the 13th instalment of the Music Victoria Awards, with nominees announced next week on Thursday October 11.
Melbourne Music Week will run from Friday November 16 – Saturday November 24. Check out the full program on the MMW website.
