The Beasts of No Nation event, which is now entering its fourth year, is set to go down on Saturday August 31 at Max Watts, and will mark the first time Femi has performed in Australia since 2014. He’ll be joined by The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, event co-founders and local Afrobeat heavyweights, to perform a huge set celebrating Fela’s life and impact on music and politics, both in Nigeria and abroad.
Femi began his musical career playing saxophone and keyboards in Fela’s Afrobeat collective Egypt 80 at the age of 16, and has since gone on to record and perform with the likes of D’Angelo, Common, Mos Def and Nile Rodgers. There’s no disputing that this will be a musical showcase of the highest order – you won’t want to sleep on tickets for this one.
