One of the world’s biggest heavy music gatherings, Download Festival appears to be heading to Melbourne next year, with a misspelt statement on the home page of the website proclaiming: “We’re coming for you Melborne” [sic].
Though a lineup is yet to be announced and information on the event is slim, rumours of huge headline acts are already bouncing around the internet. Download’s 2017 UK event was headlined by industry heavyweights Rammstein, Black Sabbath, Korn and Iron Maiden.
Whispers of an Australian incarnation of the event have been circulating since touring company Live Nation purchased the Australian domain name for Download Festival last year. As well as Live Nation, the front page of the site also lists prominent touring companies Unified and Secret Sounds.
