The Ibanez Xiphos is back, in a Rose Gold Chameleon finish

Ibanez has revived the iconic Xiphos body shape within its Iron Label series, now updated with a striking new finish and specs built for serious players.

Some guitar shapes are built to attract attention, and the Ibanez Xiphos has always been one of them. Dynamic, angular and bold, the Xiphos made a strong impression when it first landed, and after a lengthy hiatus, Ibanez has brought it back under the Iron Label banner. The latest version is even bolder, in a Rose Gold Chameleon finish that shifts and shimmers depending on the light.

Beneath the eye-catching exterior is a neck-through construction featuring a Wizard III 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck – Ibanez’s famously thin, flat and fast profile that’s long been a favourite among players who need speed and precision. An Okoume wing body keeps things lightweight and delivers a bright, solid tone, while the rosewood fretboard brings a well-balanced character with a focused midrange. Twenty-four jumbo frets round out the top end, making single-note runs feel smooth and effortless.

The Iron Label DNA really comes through the Xiphos’ hardware. The Edge-Zero II tremolo offers a lower-profile design for playing comfort, with a stud lock function to keep tuning stable under heavy use. Cosmo Black hardware ties the aesthetics together against the chameleon finish, and a locking nut keeps everything in check at the headstock end.

Ibanez Xiphos

The Xiphos comes with a pair of passive ceramic Quantum humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. Known for their quick low-end response and precise note definition, the Quantums handle fast passages cleanly while still delivering a full-bodied mid-to-high range, well suited  to the Xiphos’s natural character. Factory strung with D’Addario EXL120s in standard tuning, it’s ready to play straight out of the included gig bag.

For players who’ve been waiting on a Xiphos revival, this one looks worth the wait.
