The Australian metalcore heavyweights are set to release their first full-length album featuring new permanent clean vocalist Jonny Reeves on April 24 via Pure Noise Records.
The Amity Affliction have announced their ninth studio album, House of Cards, arriving April 24 through Pure Noise Records. Accompanying the announcement, the band have released album’s title track and music video directed by Daniel Daly—a raw, unflinching glimpse into what promises to be one of the band’s most emotionally charged records to date.
This marks a significant milestone for the Australian metalcore outfit, as House of Cards will be their first full-length release to feature Jonny Reeves on clean vocals. Reeves became a permanent member of the lineup in 2025, and his presence alongside Joel Birch’s signature intensity adds a fresh dynamic to the band’s sound. The vocal interplay between the two has already proven compelling, and this album looks set to cement that chemistry.

Speaking about the title track, Birch opened up about its deeply personal subject matter. Written for himself and his siblings, ‘House of Cards’ examines their relationship with their late mother, who passed in 2024. “Our mother died in 2024 and none of us had a healthy relationship with her,” Birch explained. “She was very self-involved, aggressive, abusive in our early years and in her later years, spent a good amount of time trying to put a wedge between the three of us.”
Rather than dwelling solely in darkness, the song, and the album as a whole, represents a step towards healing. “Thankfully once she passed, the three of us actually became closer as we realised we had individual, but shared trauma related to her,” Birch continued. It’s heavy stuff, matched by the sonic weight the band brings to the table.
The Amity Affliction’s catalogue speaks for itself, with five ARIA number one albums, over a billion streams, and countless sold-out shows across two decades. They’ve built a legacy on blending vulnerability with aggression, and House of Cards appears poised to add another essential chapter to that story.
Australian fans won’t need to wait long to experience the new material live. The band is currently midway through a massive 21-date regional tour alongside In Hearts Wake and Redhook, running through to March. Beyond that, they’ve been confirmed for the Hellbound Heavy Metal Cruise in January 2027, sharing the bill with Parkway Drive, Alpha Wolf, I Killed the Prom Queen, and Thy Art Is Murder.
