Death by Audio Synthesizer
Words by Mixdown staff

Got a little DIY knowledge and some solder? The new A Place To Bury Strangers record is a circuit board!

Oliver Ackermann of Death By Audio and his band, A Place To Bury Strangers’ latest release Synthesizer is available for pre-order: a 12″ vinyl LP featuring a unique cover that can be assembled into a noise synthesizer. This circuit board cover, essential to every track on the album, produces wild and distinctive new sounds.

What sets this record apart is that you can build your own DIY synth from the record cover! You can purchase the necessary components for assembly exclusively from Death By Audio, or see the parts list below for self-sourcing. Intermediate circuit assembly skills and tools (solder, clippers, soldering iron) are required to build the synthesizer.

This is the 7th A Place To Bury Strangers album that showcases a raw and refined sound, blending extreme noise and catchy hooks. Dance deeper into a hole of comfort and obsession and let Synthesizer be the soundtrack to your imaginary world.

Death By Audio handmakes effect pedals in an underground warehouse in Queens, NYC.

Founded in 2002 by A Place To Bury Strangers singer-guitarist Oliver Ackermann, Death By Audio’s inaugural years were spent warehouse-jumping from Virginia to Brooklyn, eventually pending nine years in the infamous Williamsburg Death By Audio effects pedal factory, venue, recording studio, and live-work space. After the venue closed its doors in 2014, Death By Audio moved the effects pedal workshop to Queens, where Oliver and crew continue to make pedals by hand.
