The new handheld recorder boasts multitrack capabilities of 8 tracks (6 tracks plus 2 mix), and 8-In / 2-Out USB Type C audio interface with support for USB bus power, and is useful in an array of applications from podcasting to vox pops, music to field recording and more.
It uses an arrangement of presets accessed through its 3.5-inch colour touchscreen that optimises the unit for the variety of recording applications listed above, including more niche things like ASMR.
The recorder boasts 192kHz/32-bit float point recording technology, large format internal detachable mics, internal 8-track recording, two large 14.6mm diameter built-in condenser microphones providing A-B and X-Y microphone patterns, compatibility with the AK-DR series optional accessories that include an adapter for DSLR camera attachment, audio routing cables, a power supply, and more.
On-board DSP routing options include a Compressor, Limiter, Low-Cut Filter, Noise Gate, Reverb, and Auto Gain Control, which can be remote controlled via mobile devices with the Tascam Portacapture Control app.
