The iconic Sydney recording facility is now offering its decades of equipment maintenance expertise to independent engineers, producers and studios.

Studios 301 has opened its professional audio repair and maintenance service to the public for the first time. The team responsible for maintaining the studio’s extensive collection of vintage and modern gear is now accepting equipment from external clients, bringing decades of specialised knowledge to the wider audio community.

The service covers a broad range of professional audio equipment, with particular expertise in vintage and modern microphones from manufacturers including Neumann, Telefunken, AKG, Sennheiser and Shure. Outboard gear from Neve, API, SSL, Universal Audio and Manley also falls within their scope, alongside professional tape machines from Studer, Revox, Otari and Ampex. Mixing console repairs are available, though larger formats may require on-site service.

All repairs use genuine manufacturer parts as standard. Where original parts aren’t available, replacements meet or exceed OEM specifications. The team works on an hourly rate basis rather than fixed quotes, keeping clients informed throughout the process. Each repair begins with a thorough safety inspection before moving to diagnosis, parts sourcing and the actual work.

Turnaround times vary depending on parts availability and current workload, though rush service options are available for urgent jobs. Local drop-off is available in the Sydney area, making it accessible for NSW-based engineers and studios.

The service targets recording facilities, educational institutions, collectors and independent creators who need reliable maintenance for professional equipment. Studios 301 recommends providing detailed fault descriptions and any necessary accessories (cables, power supplies, media) to speed up diagnosis and reduce costs.

Clients should back up stored data, presets and settings before drop-off. The process involves initial equipment review, drop-off for confirmation and diagnosis, followed by invoicing and pickup once work is complete.
