For years, Van Damme has been a key partner to the Distillery II team, providing custom racks, patch bays, and their iconic Blue Series cables — including the classic pre-jacketed 8-pair multicore.
“We’ve been working with Van Damme for over 15 years, and their cable just works — every time. You lay it in once, and it’s flawless from there on. That’s huge,” says Matt Tait, recording engineer at Distillery II.
Business Manager Andy Leese agrees: “We’ve had tour managers walking around with notepads and pens, noting where everything is patched in — by the end of the visit, they’re genuinely impressed. You can really plug in anywhere. We’ve even got tie lines running up to the kitchen.”
Starting from the ground up gave the team full freedom to design the space with flexibility and efficiency in mind. Alongside supplying Blue Series cables, local Van Damme distributor VDC delivered custom metalwork and precision screen-printed panels for both the control and live rooms. Together, these bespoke touches helped shape a versatile infrastructure built to handle whatever the studio throws at it.
“You walk in, plug in, and it just works. Smooth functionality creates a psychological boost: when everything operates flawlessly, creativity can flow,” says Tait. “And you don’t want cables hanging out of walls or connectors that are falling apart. We’ve worked hard to make this a place where that doesn’t happen.”
More than just a recording studio, it’s a fully integrated, all-in-one creative space. With full soundproofing, a PA and lighting setup, vintage recording gear, a premium mic collection, and a wide range of amps and instruments, it’s ready to perform on any stage—from rehearsals and recording sessions to film shoots and live events.
“It’s a jack-of-all-trades.” says Leese.
The studio will kick off with music production projects, spatial audio playback, and a major short film, with touring artist recording sessions booked in the lead-up to Glastonbury. With over 30 years refining a comprehensive range of audio and video cables, Van Damme is renowned for their quality, blending innovation, practicality, and versatility to meet diverse demands, from eco-friendly to user-friendly designs. Trusted by professionals worldwide, Van Damme cables are the go-to choice for everything from architectural projects to the rigours of touring, ensuring flawless performance on stages, in studios, and on screens.
