Spitfire Audio has released Spitfire Symphony Orchestra Discover (SSO Discover), its largest free sample library to date, bringing professional-quality orchestral samples to composers and producers worldwide.

Recorded at AIR Lyndhurst Studios in London, SSO Discover is a carefully curated, lightweight version of Spitfire Audio’s award-winning Spitfire Symphony Orchestra. The library includes 44 instruments and 73 techniques across strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, and piano, all packed into a 5.68GB download that runs smoothly within Kontakt Player.
Building on the success of BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover, which has been downloaded by over one million users since its 2020 release, SSO Discover removes barriers to entry for creators across all genres. Whether you’re a composer, producer, or instrumentalist, the library provides an accessible way to experiment with authentic orchestral arrangements without the cost.
The library includes full dynamic range and vibrato control, giving users access to the expressive capabilities of the full Spitfire Symphony Orchestra. Eleven solo instruments are included alongside ensemble sections, with three legato patches for natural, flowing melodic lines.
To support new users, Spitfire Audio has partnered with ThinkSpace Education to create “Introduction to Writing for Orchestra,” a free companion course that teaches the fundamentals of orchestral composition using SSO Discover.
