Sonarworks has launched Virtual Monitoring PRO, a room-simulation solution that captures the exact acoustic signature of your studio and recreates it on your headphones. Unlike preset-based systems, this one measures your actual room.

The package includes a USB SoundID binaural in-ear measurement microphone and software that guides you through capturing how your room and speakers interact with your hearing. Once you’ve created your personalised profile, you can load it into SoundID Reference as a plug-in or system-wide and carry your studio sound anywhere.
“Instead of relying on pre-made presets, Virtual Monitoring PRO lets you copy the exact sound of the room you know and trust to your headphones,” says Martins Popelis, Co-Founder and CPO at Sonarworks. “Then take it anywhere you go and enjoy the freedom and confidence it brings you.”
Beyond your own studio, you can measure a client’s or mentor’s room for accurate remote collaboration, or capture other acoustic environments, such as your car. Any stereo speaker system can be profiled and transferred to your over-ear headphones.
Getting started is simple. Pre-order to receive the software licence and binaural microphone, set up your over-ear headphones in the room you want to capture, measure your space using the guided process (feature unlocks 11 November 2025), load the profile and you can mix anywhere.
Six-time Grammy winner Richard Furch, who’s worked with Prince, Frank Ocean and Usher, tested the early beta: “It’s like taking my studio on the road, being totally flexible, checking what I created here somewhere else, or the opposite: start somewhere else and finish it here.”
Multi-platinum engineer Koen Heldens, known for work with Beyoncé, Rihanna and XXXTentacion, adds: “I’ve never been able to make mix decisions this accurately outside my room. It’s like my studio monitors came with me.”
