Both kits add V-Drums 3 Series pads, a simplified rack and free access to Melodics Drum Pass.

Roland has announced a refresh to its TD-07 V-Drums lineup of entry-level electronic drums, introducing the TD-07DMK2 and TD-07KV2 kits. Roland describes the range as its best-selling and as offering the best balance of playability and value in its class, aimed at beginners, dedicated students and returning players.

Key updates include upgraded pads, enhanced practice tools and hardware, and a simplified setup that greatly reduces the time it takes to start playing.

The kits

  • TD-07DMK2: the most affordable kit in the series, a five-piece configuration with smaller pads. Its compact footprint suits tight spaces, and an additional cymbal arm is included so players can add a second crash later.
  • TD-07KV2: also a five-piece kit, but with larger pads and two crash cymbals. The bigger pads give more freedom of movement and more room for rudiments, fills and drum solos.

Both kits come with snare and tom pads from the V-Drums 3 Series, which Roland says offer improved playability and the latest sensor systems for precise triggering. The dual mesh head pads are designed to give the natural stick rebound and resistance of acoustic drums, helping players build skills that translate to bigger kits. Each kit also includes a freestanding KD-10 kick pad, which supports single and double beaters.

Setup is simpler, too. The drum racks arrive with many components pre-installed, which Roland says makes them among the easiest e-kits to put together, and packaging has been reduced to cut waste. The updated rack has a wider centre pipe than previous models, so players can upgrade to the KDQ-8 kick pad from the V-Drums Quiet Design series for low-noise performance.

Both kits are built around the TD-07 module, which offers a wide selection of pro drum tones through an intuitive interface, plus deep editing tools to personalise sounds and save kits for later recall. Bluetooth is built in, so drummers can play along with songs on their phone and work with audio and MIDI data in music apps.

The module’s updated coach mode adds onboard exercises for timing and accuracy, with levels from easy to hard and scoring to track progress. An advanced metronome is also included. Players also get free access to Drum Pass, an exclusive Roland bundle of interactive Melodics lessons developed for V-Drums players.

The TD-07DMK2 and TD-07KV2 are compatible with a wide range of Roland drum and cymbal pads and accessories, so kits can grow as players do. One handy add-on is the RSH-10, a smartphone holder that mounts a device inside the kit while players jam along with songs or work through Drum Pass lessons.
