Limited to just 200 units worldwide, the PRS Joe Walsh McCarty 594 sees the brand put a few subtle twists on their longstanding electric single-cut model, with the modifications going in line with Walsh’s own personal preferences.
The guitar fuses a mahogany body and set mahogany neck with a vibrant flame maple top for classic tones and looks alike, taking the tonal profile of the guitar somewhere close to Les Paul territory.
These tonewoods are complemented by a Brazilian rosewood fretboard – a specific request from Walsh – with 22 stainless steel frets, while the neck itself features a 24.594″ scale with a Pattern Vintage profile and faux bone binding.
The Joe Walsh McCarty 594 include a pair of PRS 58/15 LT+ humbucker pickups that provide ‘exceptional clarity, focused midrange, and vintage character’, while the guitar’s tone controls also function as push/pull pots to switch between humbucking and single-coil tones.
Other specs also include a PRS two-piece bridge and vintage-style tuners, as well as a three-way pickup selector switch on the top bout of the body and ‘Old School’ bird fretboard inlays. It also comes shipped in a custom hardcase for safekeeping, and features Joe Walsh’s signature on the backplate of the guitar.
“Joe’s endorsement of the McCarty 594 Singlecut Joe Walsh Limited Edition means the world to me,” Paul Reed Smith gushed in a statement shared today.
“We work very hard to keep pushing the guitar-making craft forward without losing sight of its rich history. The McCarty models have always embodied that, and to have a player like Joe Walsh say we’ve nailed it is heartwarming.”
Listen to Joe Walsh put the guitar through its paces and discuss the origins of the collaboration below.
