At the centre of its functionality is the use of WebMIDI technology which lets users connect their instrument directly to the internet to play online synthesizers, and enables the saving and sharing of sounds on Soundmondo. This is all done without the need to install any drivers or middleware.
Once connected, using Soundmondo is simple. Create sounds, save them for later, tag them, write a description and attach a Soundcloud audio file or YouTube video. The website takes basic social media technology and know how, and caters it to the production of synth sounds. The Yamaha reface Mobile Mini Keyboards are currently the only instruments that work with Soundmondo.
Browsing and recreating sounds is intuitive. Click BROWSE, use tags to source your desired sound, and then click SYNC and with little to no effort that sound is now connected to your reface. Also appearing is a virtual panel which visually outlines how to recreate the sound on your settings.
The introduction of Yamaha’s reface Mobile Mini Keyboards streamlined the creation of quality keyboard sounds and versatility in a small, interactive package. Soundmondo takes these features to a new, connected and technologically innovative level.
