The iconic British brand releases Greenback-loaded combos, a separate head and cab, plus treble booster and fuzz pedals.

VOX has rolled out a fresh batch of hand-wired gear aimed at players chasing vintage British tones without the vintage inconvenience. The lineup includes two Greenback-equipped combo amps, a head and cabinet pairing for added flexibility, and two effect pedals that complete the classic 60s British rock recipe.

AC30HWR2 and AC15HWR1 combo amps

If you’ve always loved the AC30 sound but found the Alnico Blue version a bit too bright or aggressive, these Greenback-loaded combos might be your answer. The AC30HWR2 and AC15HWR1 swap out the Blues for Celestion G12M Greenbacks, which use ceramic magnets to deliver a mellower, more rounded character. It’s smoother in the upper mids, tighter in the lows.

With these combo amps, you’ll still get that essential VOX DNA from the EL84 power section and phase inverter distortion, but the tonal focus shifts: there’s less top-end sparkle, more midrange punch, and a gentler drive transition. The power supply reproduces the original 1963 “sag” response for natural compression without the noise and instability of actual vintage gear.

Both amps feature two channels. The Normal Channel gives you warm, thick tones with a Bright switch when you need clarity, while the Top Boost Channel delivers classic VOX chime with slightly tamed highs for better control. A dedicated tube-driven spring reverb adds lush ambience, and the FET-buffered effects loop keeps your pedals sounding clean.

AC30HWRH amplifier head and V212HWRX cabinet

For players who prefer separates, whether for touring or more versatility in the home studio, VOX has released the AC30 Hand-Wired Head alongside the V212HWRX 2×12 cabinet. The 30-watt head runs four EL84 output tubes and works equally well on stage or in the studio. The V212HWRX cabinet features vintage-accurate panel construction with Celestion Alnico Blue speakers. It’s designed as the perfect partner for the AC30HWRH but also breathes new life into existing AC series amps.

The head maintains the two-channel setup: Normal Channel with midrange warmth and a Bright switch, Top Boost Channel with separate Treble, Bass, and Volume controls. You’ll also get genuine tube-driven spring reverb and a transparent effects loop that won’t colour your sound.

VTB-1 treble booster and VFZ-1 fuzz pedals

No classic British rig is complete without the right pedals, so VOX has released two that recreate the era’s essential tones. The VTB-1 Treble Booster does exactly what legendary AC30 players have always done—tame the lows and drive the amp into richer, more expressive overdrive. It uses a unique Silicon design that mimics Germanium’s nonlinear behaviour, with a hand-selected Silver Can BC108 transistor. A Fat Switch expands the boosted frequency range, and precise biasing creates a wider sweet spot with excellent volume-knob cleanup.

The VFZ-1 Fuzz updates the vintage two-transistor design with modern stability. Silicon transistors are voiced to sound like Germanium, using two premium Silver Can BC108 units. A Crunch Switch unlocks lower-gain overdrive tones, while Bass Cut and Tone Cut controls give you plenty of shaping options. High input impedance means you can place it anywhere in your chain, even after a wah or buffer.
