Schecter are giving their Prince Cloud guitar a worldwide release

While Prince’s original Cloud guitar was handmade in Minneapolis by local luthier Dave Rusan, Schecter were commissioned by The Purple One himself to create a run of Cloud replicas with new colours and finishes for use onstage, as well as entrusting the company with repair duties for his older models. Made famous by the 1984 feature film Purple Rain, the wacky guitar is now set to receive a widespread release, with units expected to ship this November.

Featuring a mahogany body with a three piece maple neck and fretboard, Schecter’s replica is loaded with EMG 81 and SA pickups for ultimate versatility between styles. It’s topped off with Prince black love fretboard inlays, as well as gold hardware and a deluxe white finish, as well as a purple plush lined hardcase and all the ornate stylings you’d expect from a guitar with Prince’s aura clinging to it.
