ROLAND ANNOUNCE TWO NEW DJ CONTROLLERS

Taking their cues from the company’s exisintg DJ-808 model, the two new Serato controllers take the functions of that larger machine and simplifies them. The DJ-505 is a slightly smaller, two-chanel and four-deck version of the 808, and can be used in standalone mode to control turntables or players with Serato.

This follows Roland’s announcements of additions to its Boutique range last week, which included new takes on their classic TR-808 drum machine, SH-101 synthesiser and the SP-404SX sampler. Read about those products here.

DJ-505 features include:

  • Two channels with a deck select for up to four decks
  • Large, low-latency platters optimized for scratching
  • Built-in, fully editable drum kits from Roland’s legendary TR-808, TR-909, TR-606, and TR-707
  • TR kits contain eight sounds – bass drum, snare drum, closed hat, open hat, tom, rim, clap, and ride – that can be played on the performance pads and triggered from the sequencer
  • Mic input with gate, hi-pass, reverb, and echo FX
  • MIDI output to sync external devices with Serato DJ and the TR-S sequencer

DJ-202 features include:

  • Two-channel, four-deck controller for Serato Intro
  • Large platters with the lowest available latency, optimized for scratching
  • Independent sampler volume control
  • MIDI output for synchronizing external devices with tracks in Serato DJ Intro
  • Mic input with gate, hi-pass, reverb, and echo FX
