Featuring total analogue circuitry and components, the SE-02 promises to be a welcome addition to the boutique synthesiser market. Echoing the silhouette of previous designs by industry contemporaries such as Moog and Dave Smith, the monophonic SE-02 eschews a menu system in favour of a modular-inspired layout featuring a myriad of knobs assigned to each individual parameter, giving users control over a plethora of modulation, feedback, and filter effects.
Boasting a massive patch capacity with up to 324 sound presets, the SE-02 also features a 16 step sequencer with the ability to sync to MIDI, USB and CV inputs, with the ability to save up to 128 patterns on the fly. The collaboration from Roland and Studio Electronics also allows users to link the model to other designs from Roland’s Boutique series, chaining two or more devices to transform the SE-02 into a polyphonic instrument for use with an external keyboard.
While Roland and Studio Electronics are yet to announce a price or availability date for the SE-02, you can view a demonstration of the powerful desktop synthesiser below.
Studio Electronics are available in Australia through Awave, and Roland through rolandcorp.com.au.
