PRS unveil new Private Stock Snarling Tiger McCarty model

Boasting a one-piece curly maple top and a figured mahogany back, the Private Stock Snarling Tiger McCarty presents itself as a premium model for the upmarket player, with the curly maple neck and fretboard also being adorned with ebony binding and mother-of-pearl inlays.

It’s also loaded with a set of PRS 58/15 LY humbuckers and a PRS two-piece bridge, and is topped with a set of PRS Phase III set-screw tuners.  Even the headstock features ebony binding, making for quite a visually appealing guitar – bar the addition of the humongous tiger caricature on the front, carved out by Floyd Scholz.

While it’s decked out with some pristine appointments – the nitro satin Antique Natural Smoked Burst finish is definitely a treat, and the flame on the curly maple top and neck looks absolutely beautiful – we just don’t really know how to feel about that big cat on the face of the guitar. Those eyes look pretty menacing, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tiger with bigger biceps than this bad boy.
