The offset S2 Vela boasts an all mahogany body with a single F hole for weight relief and a warm, resonant tone. The model also features a mahogany neck, as well as a 22 fret rosewood fretboard with a 10″ radius for easy fretting up the neck.
Loaded with a PRS Starla ‘S’ humbucking pickup in the bridge and a PRS designed Type-D single coil in the neck position, the Vela provides players with a mix of chugging rhythm sounds and a noteworthy bite for lead sounds, while a coil-tap on the tone control splits the coils of the bridge humbucker to really cut through the mix.
Elsewhere, the S2 Vela Semi-Hollow features a plate-style aluminum PRS bridge with two brass saddles to compensate for intonation and ease of restringing, harking back to Paul Reed Smith’s early designs for the company. There’s also PRS Low Mass Locking tuners and nickel hardware, as well as standard volume, tone and pickup controls.
