NAMM 2019: Jackson Guitars announces nine new artist signatures

USA Signature Jeff Loomis Kelly

Loomis’ signature leads the pack in the press statement released by parent company Fender. The death metal guitarist’s new axe has an ash body with a sandblasted ash top and black finish. It’s fashioned mostly for speed, with its 12”-16” compound radius bound ebony fingerboard featuring 24 jumbo stainless steel frets. The Kelly packs Dynamic Seymour Duncan Jeff Loomis Signature Blackouts active pickups, designed for hi-fi clarity under the most brutal of distortion.

USA Signature Limited Edition Phil Collen PC1 Clara Walnut

Def Leppard’s Phil Collen has long been known to favour Jackson guitars , so another signature is hardly unexpected. Collen’s latest with Jackson is arguably one of his prettiest yet, boasting a caramelised mahogany body, claro walnut top and bolt-on two-piece quartersawn caramelised flame maple neck. Elsewhere, you’ll find the guitar’s sound to be as thick as ever; packed with a custom DiMarzio DP427 bridge pickup and a custom DiMarzio Fast Track1™ middle pickup as well as a PC1 Sustainer Driver neck pickup for infinite sustain.

X Series Scott Ian King V KVXT

Thrash metal progenitor Scott Ian has left an indelible mark on the world of music as part of Anthrax. His signature model has existed for a little while now; however, a new Candy Apple Red finish and a white pickguard have been added for 2019. The instrument’s unique voice is powered by a pair of Duncan Designed™ humbucking pickups — a biting HB-103B humbucking bridge pickup is matched to a powerful HB-103N humbucking neck pickup.

Pro Series Signature Misha Mansoor Juggernaut HT6, HT6QM and HT7

Even if you don’t like the bizarro subgenre of djent, you probably respect the technicality. Misha Mansoor with his band Periphery exemplify the absurdly good playing and fleet fingered technique in the genre. Mansoor’s series of signatures all feature a basswood body paired with a bolt-on one-piece caramelised maple neck with graphite reinforcement, wrap-around heel and oiled back finish for greater playing comfort. Jackson MM1 pickups match Mansoor’s signature tone.

USA Signature Limited Edition Dave Davidson Warrior WR7

Guitarist Dave Davidson from Boston-based death metallers Revocation has the strangest guitar of the lot – a new seven-string with specially designed Imperium 7 pickups to match Davidson’s chord voicings. The 12”-16”  fingerboard is also uniquely made for technical playing — more curved by the nut for comfortable chording, it flattens out as you move up the neck for increasingly fast playing speed and wide bends without fretting out.

Pro Series Signature Phil Demmel Demmelition Fury PD and Pro Series Signature Phil Demmel Demmelition Fury PDT

Phil Demmel, along with his band Machine Head, has carved out a niche for “thrash and groove” metal over the last fifteen years. Demmel’s two signatures are works of uncomplicated beauty with a similar setup to the other signatures: a mahogany offset body, one-piece through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint, and a 12″-16″ compound-radius bound laurel fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets and piranha tooth inlays. The tone is brought to life by EMG 81 and 60 humbucking pickups, providing thick mids and big lows.
