Guild unveil their affordable new Starfire I range

The Starfire I range is split across two tiers, and also comes available with two different tailpiece systems – you can either get a Tune-o-matic bridge or a classic Bigsby vibrato. The Guild Starfire I DC is available in both mahogany and maple constructions, with the former being finished in Cherry Red and the latter decked in Pelham Blue – this one’s also got a Bigsby to boot.

Both models boast a 24 3/4″ scale and a modern thin U neck profile, with Guild’s HB II Alnico humbuckers coming with push-pull coil splitting for further tonal versatility.

If jazz is more up your alley, the Guild Starfire SC might tickle your fancy. It’s a very ES-175 inspired model with a 2″ thick body and bridge block for enhanced stability and resonance, and features similar electronics to its double-cut cousin as described above.

Scale length is 24 3/4″, and it’s also loaded with Guild Vintage 18 tuners to make sure things don’t come unstuck. Finally, these ones are available in three different finishes: Seafoam Green and Snowcrest White both feature Bigsby tremolos, while the Antique Sunburst comes with a stoptail Tune-o-matic bridge.
