Following on from the success of his ’57 Goldtop signature model from the Gibson Custom Shop – regarded by many to be an instant classic – Parnell and Gibson teamed up once again to offer a different take on the ’59 Gibson Les Paul Standard. The new ’59 Burst shares many construction elements of Parnell’s Custom Shop Goldtop model, including the contoured cutaway edge and revised pickup routes, which the guitarist claims captures more of the wood’s natural character.
In the electronics department, the Lee Roy Parnell ’59 Les Paul features an underwound ’57 Classic humbucker in the neck and a ’57 Classic Plus in the bridge position for a rollicking tone, with Gibson also implementing the all-new Vintage Tone Circuit with paper-in-oil capacitors and vintage taper potentiometers for enhanced character and reliability in all departments.
The Gibson Lee Roy Parnell ’59 Les Paul Standard comes decked with a hand-picked figured maple top accented with an eye-catching Abilene Sunset Fade burst, ensuring that this model looks just as good as it sounds. The guitar also comes with a classic pink lined Gibson hardcase and a signed Certificate of Authenticity from Parnell himself – this looks like it’ll be hot property for those country guitarists out there.
