Dave Smith Instruments debuts Sequential Prophet X

Dubbed “the next evolution of the Prophet”, the Sequential Prophet X draws on its famous predecessors to become a powerful synthesis tool with a musical voice all of its own. Essentially, the Prophet X is a bi-timbral, eight-voice stereo (16-voice mono) synthesiser with a newly developed sound engine powering two sample-based instruments and two digital oscillators, all processed through analogue filters.

In terms of sampling, the Prophet X uses two independent instruments per voice, and features a diverse collection of instruments and effects with 150GB of internal sample content. Each sample can be shaped through loop manipulation, sample stretching, and sound-sculpting modulation functions.

The synth side of the Prophet X provides two high-resolution digital oscillators, a Shape Mod control for manually dialling waveshape widths, and a host of classic synth functions including four syncable LFOs and four loopable five-stage envelope generators.

The Prophet X uses a polyphonic step sequencer to provide up to 64 steps and up to six notes per step. A dual effects engine provides an array of functions, while the sturdy design of the synth ensures it can be used in the studio or on the road.
