Produced by the band and mixed by multi-instrumentalists Jay Watson and James Ireland, is touted as being the band’s most free-flowing, creatively ambiguous full-length to date, with each track boasting a run time of less than five minutes.

In a press release detailing the new album, frontman Nick Albrook touched upon Pond’s recording regimen behind the LP, saying that the carefree creative process was a natural measure after the band pursued stricter measures on their previous releases.

“We sort of gave ourselves permission to make something stuffed this time,” Albrook said.

“We’d settled into a pretty tight routine with the last few albums and wanted to shake a boat with this so we started off with filling a few tape reels with some absolutely heinous improvised sonic babble which, after much sifting, became the first few songs of the album.”

Today’s announcement of is also supported by the release of a new single from the band, ‘America’s Cup’, a groovy, disco-inspired cut penned about the band’s hometown of Fremantle prior to its gentrification.

The single, which is also paired with a video directed by Kristofski, arrives months after the release of 9’s lead single ‘Pink Lunettes’, a furious no-wave jam that saw the band wave their freak flag on one of their most unhinged cuts to date.

Additionally, Pond have shared details of an East Coast tour this June, with the band visiting Sydney and Melbourne alongside support acts CLYPSO, Ajak Kwai and Chikchika.

The group have also rescheduled a number of hometown shows at Perth’s Magnet House with Methyl Ethel, which is set to feature Jewel Owusu and Nina BC on the bill.
