“Baby Burglar”  is another single from the forthcoming album Theatre of the Absurd presents C’est La Vie which is out on November 17 on Sony BMG.

Madness – Baby Burglar

The UK’s prodigal sons, Madness, are back with a new single “Baby Burglar”. Joining other singles “If I Go Mad”, “C’est La Vie” and “What On Earth Is it”, the new single has Madness’ vaudeville influences on show, horns poking through a sparse arrangement built of organ, driving drums and pulsing bass before a thumb-tack sounding piano takes the stage.

It will be Madness’ 13th full length album, having consistently released records since they exploded from ol’ Camden town in the 70s and spearheaded a burgeoning ska scene in London.

Baby Burglar

“Baby Burglar” sets a dark mood for the album, a bossa-nova style arrangement from a vintage Yamaha organ offsetting their usual upbeat music, telling the tale of a burglar in saxophonist Lee Thompson’s house, reminding himself of the trouble he and his friends used to get up to:

The story behind “Baby Burglar” is actually quite a funny one…it’s about Lee finding a midnight meddler loose in his house and how it reminded him of his younger self and all the shenanigans we used to get up to when we were whippersnappers.”
