The D-28 is based on a 1954 D-28 that was handed down from Robinson’s father to him, which was used on tour with his band the Appalachians, who were active during the 1950s and ‘60s.

After inheriting his father’s guitar, Robinson used it to write most of the original Black Crowes’ songs from the band’s studio albums.

The Rich Robinson D-28 features an East Indian rosewood body with Sitka spruce top in a vintage gloss finish, white binding and tortoise pickguard. The neck is 25.4-inch of mahogany with an ebony fretboard, mother of pearl dot inlays, and a bone nut.

The neck is set with a dovetail joint, securing it to the body with authentic hide glue. The neck shape is a custom 1954 Rich Robinson Barrel and Heel, and comes with aged nickel tuners.

The bridge is of a modern belly, long saddle drop in design with softened wings, specifically requested by Rich Robinson, to help improve player comfort.

The D-28 Rich Robinson signature model is a fantastic modern remake on a vintage design. It provides all the characteristic one would expect from a vintage Martin guitar with some modern design sensibilities to help improve player comfort.
