Slum Sociable release debut album, share live video for new song

The 11-track record is the first full-length body of material from the duo, who previously released their TQ EP in 2015. Slum Sociable worked with esteemed producers to create the LP, including Russell Fawcus (The Temper Trap) and Rich Cooper (Mystery Jets), while the record was mixed by Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley).

“This album is, above all, the product of a friendship,” explains Ed Cregan, one half of Slum Sociable alongside Miller Upchurch. “Whilst the project initially started as university project, the songs written after that period (which would end up becoming the first songs for this album) were at a time when I [Cregan] had lost someone very important to me … Miller never asked any questions, he knew what I was going through and helped me through it by making music.

“In the last 18 months, Miller went through some extremely difficult times also. In this moment, the roles were reversed; I was there to help Miller through his difficult period through music. Sometimes it’s easier to make music than to talk about the shit that you’re going through. This album is a product of helping each other through those difficult times.”

To celebrate the release of Slum Sociable, the duo has shared the first of three live sessions captured on video in anticipation of their upcoming headline shows. Watch their performance of ‘Keep Up With It’ below:
