Black Opal is the sophomore release from Shining Bird’s; this is the highly anticipated follow up to Leisure Coast, which was met with high praise and acclaim. Shining Bird’s efforts have included winning the SMAC award for Rivermouth and the popular Helluva Lot.
Mixed by seasoned veterans Russell Webster and Tim Whitten (The Go-Betweens, Hoodoo Gurus), Black Opal is the culmination of work from the band over the past two years which situated in the Blue Mountains of NSW.
The bands experimental sound and forward thinking style is represented in their albums visual artwork, which was painted by Luke Sciberras. The band will be making an appearance at this year BigSound industry showcases in September.
