Later this year, Joy Division bassist Peter Hook is performing a concert series with the Metropolitan Orchestra to mark the 40th anniversary of Unknown Pleasures – read more about that here. This year also saw the publication of Jon Savage’s oral history of the band This searing light, the sun and everything else: Joy Division: The Oral History, which offers a comprehensive history of the band up until frontman Ian Curtis’ suicide in May 1980.
