JEFFREY LEWIS ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM

JEFFREY LEWIS ONLINE.jpg

It’s the first album since 2011’s A Turn In The Dream-Songs, and the introspective wordsmith has brought back his regular band ‘Los Bolts’, with Heather Wagner on drums and Caitlin Gray on bass. Lewis placed Manhattan in good hands behind the scenes as well, with the album mixed by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Phosphorescent, War On Drugs) and recorded by Brian Speaker.

The album’s title pays homage to his hometown of New York, inspired by the observations and experiences had as a lifelong resident, as Lewis breathes life into each character and situation by depicting them in great detail and with emotional depth.

While it has been four years between official solo releases, the singer/songwriter has been keeping busy playing over 555 live shows, releasing a collaboration album with Peter Stampfel, and on the weirder side of creative ventures, has created and published a series of zines in which he adapted Sonic Youth songs into sonnet form, soundly titled Sonnet Youth. Now he’s back doing what he does best.

Manhattan is out October 30 on Rough Trade / Remote Control Records.
