Seymour Duncan's latest evolution of Slash pickups deliver increased punch and aggression, while still maintaining the character that defines Slash's signature sound.
Seymour Duncan has unveiled the Slash 3.0 signature humbuckers, the latest evolution in a pickup series that’s been shaping the guitarist’s tone for nearly four decades. Building on the foundation of the original Slash model and the hotter Slash 2.0 set, the latest 3.0 iteration adds more output and attack while still preserving the clarity and character that made its predecessors so iconic.

The Slash 3.0 was born from a specific need during Guns N’ Roses’ performance at the Back to the Beginning tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Slash required extra output for his SG without sacrificing precision or authenticity. The result is a humbucker built around roughcast Alnico 5 magnets, delivering tighter lows, more immediate attack, and increased output while maintaining the transparent character of the original design.
“The new 3.0 is basically just one more step up,” Slash explains. “You have more output, but still that same clarity and honesty of the sound of the guitar. I’ve got the best of all worlds now because I have my original Slash pickups that I’ve been using on most of my guitars forever. But now I have the options of having the 2.0 and the 3.0 for different guitars and different situations where it calls for a bit more kick-arse.”
For Slash himself, the 3.0 has found its way into multiple guitars whenever a little extra kick is needed. From the original model that captured the tones of Appetite for Destruction, through the beefier 2.0, and now to the 3.0, players get three distinct output levels that never lose sight of what makes Slash’s tone legendary.
Whether you’re outfitting a Les Paul, an SG, or a stage-ready superstrat, the full range means you can dial in the right amount of aggression for any situation without sacrificing tonal character.
