Markbass announces ‘Virtuoso International Contest’ for young bass players

Fancy yourself a bit of a beast behind the old bass guitar? In the market for a new bass rig? Look no further than Markbass’ newly launched ‘Virtuoso International Contest’, for players between the ages of 15 and 29.

To enter, you’ll need to record a video of yourself playing a song of your choosing on bass in one of the following styles: Contemporary Jazz, Latin Jazz, Jazz Rock or Fusion. The clip must be recorded in a single take – a live performance with no edits – and the video frame must show your entire person (no hands only closeups). Then, send the video file, or a link to download it, along with a copy of your ID or Passport (along with parent/guardian documents if you’re a minor) the Mod B Release for data processing signed, your contact details and the fully filled out contest registration form to [email protected] with the subject line ‘MARKBASS VIRTUOSO INTERNATIONAL CONTEST’.

A selected jury will choose the best three virtuosos on the basis of virtuosity, musicality, technique, intonation, rhythmic precision and sound.

The best virtuoso and the other two winners will be selected by Markbass top artist Alain Caron, announced on September 15 and awarded these great prizes:
