Boasting an incredible tally of over 800 international performances, Italian classical virtuoso Lorenzo Micheli is set to headline this year’s festival, performing an expansive repitoire comprised of both original material and canonical classical guitar compositions.
Australian Flamenco legends Richard Tedesco and Gerard Mapstone are also set to perform at the festival, as well as Melbourne International Guitar Festival 2016 winner Andrew Blanch and the local Melbourne Guitar Quartet, providing a weekend of classical delight to Melbourne’s guitar enthusiasts.
The Concert Artist Competition will be held once again, giving players of all ages and skills the opportunity to perform in catergorical competitions to win cash prizes. The overall winner of the Concert Artist Competition will also recieve a $10,000 cash prize and a series of eight concerts across Australia, providing young virtuosos with the oppurtunity to kick off their career as an instrumentalist.
As well as keynote performances, the event also features various masterclasses and promotional displays, notably hosting a masterclass with headliner Lorenzo Micheli, as well as stalls from luthiers, retailers, and much more.
