Titled AMBIT (Assisted Music Business Industry Training), the scheme is designed to provide roadies, production crew and workers in the live music sector a chance to obtain new career skills amid the state-wide shutdown.
Facilitated by CrewCare and funded in partnership with Creative Victoria and Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley, AMBIT will cater for workers in all stages of their career, helping to provide much-needed support for the oft-forgotten sector.
The initiative will specifically see 15 Victorian production businesses receive income through creating and creating unique content, and will also aim to provide four sole traders in the industry a source of income by developing and administering AMBIT.
A further 490 crew members are expected to take part in the program, learning a new skill and receiving income through participating in the training sessions.
In a statement published today, Jade Bophela, project manager for AMBIT, celebrated the announcement of the program, saying that the team “have worked really hard to create a program for everyone, whether you are starting out and undertaking one of the practical courses or are an experienced production manager and want to learn a new area of the business via the upskill modules.
“We are extremely grateful to Creative Victoria and the Hon Martin Foley for believing in this initiative and making this training possible. These programs not only assist during the temporary shutdown but will pave the way for crew to be more versatile in their skillset when the industry bounces back.”
