Miiesha swept the 2021 QMAs while Jesswar becomes the first female artist to win Hip Hop/Rap.
Last night the 2021 Queensland Music Awards took place in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley hosted by Aimon Clark and Patience Hodgson. With 30 awards to celebrate the artistic and commercial success of Queensland’s best upcoming and recognised artists and their teams over the last 12 months.

Ball Park Music won one of the major categories last night with Album of the Year with their 2020 self-titled album. Rising artist Sycco, who recently performed at the APRA Music Awards last week, won Song of the Year and the Pop category for her hit ‘Dribble’.
Not surprisingly, Amy Shark won Highest Selling Single for her ARIA award-winning hit ‘Everybody Rise’ while Keith Urban took home Highest Selling Album for his album ‘The Speed Of Now Part 1’. The album has spent 32 weeks in the ARIA’s Top 20 Australian Country Albums, currently at number one.
Five-time nominee at the 2020 ARIA Awards, Miiesha had the most wins of the night with three awards for Indigenous, Soul/Funk/RnB and Remote for her hit ‘Twisting Words’. The song comes from her debut album ‘Nyaaringu’ which peaked at number 28 on the ARIA Charts.
A historic win of the night was Jesswar taking home the Hip Hop/Rap award for ‘Venom’, making her the first female artist to win this award. Jaguar Jonze had won for the second year in a row the Folk/Singer-Songwriter award for her song ‘MURDER’.
Other winners of the night include Beckah Amani for Emerging Artist of the Year and the Billy Thorpe Scholarship; Melody Moko won Country for ‘Like Hank Would’; Sheppard for Export Achievement; Hope D won the Rock category with ‘Second’; CLOE TERARE won the Regional award for ‘Intentions feat. JDG’, and Dylan Duclos and Rico Zhang won the Video award for Lastlings’ ‘Out Of Touch’.
