Equipped with many of the classic Gretsch features we all know and love (U-shape maple necks, classy Gold Hardware and string-thru Bigsbys ahoy), as well as some very modern features designed to bring modern tonal versatility to the brands iconic body shapes.
Possibly the biggest takeaway from the announcement is the exciting inclusion of a new pickup design-the FT-67 Filter’tron humbucker – new for 2021 Players Edition models.
Gretsch say the new FT-67’s ‘provide open and pristine top-end chime, glassy midrange and robust low end’ and have been specifically designed to sit seamlessly in the context of full band playing-a feature that is no doubt sure to keep the mix engineers happy!
Left handers can rejoice as there are two models designed especially for the southpaw guitarists out there.
In addition to the Players Edition, Gretsch have also announced two new Signature models for legendary hired gun session hand (and seasoned White Falcon aficionado) Richard Fortus.
Best known for his work with Guns ‘n’ Roses, The Psychedelic Furs and Thin Lizzy (among others), the Richard Fortus Signature Falcons echo Mr Fortus’ preference for classic centreblock Gretsch sustain and rock solid tune-o-matic bridges and will be available in both Bigsby and V-stop variants.
Like the Players Edition, the Richard Fortus Signature Falcons are slated to drop in November.
