Fender flesh out the Parallel Universe II range with the new Spark-O-Matic

A funky offset to add to your collection.

Fender have today launched the eye-catching Spark-o-matic, fusing the iconic shape of the Jazzmaster with the appointments and electronics of Gibson’s revered Firebird to make for another tantalising addition to the second run of the Parallel Universe range.

Initially teased by Fender during NAMM 2020, the Parallel Universe II Spark-o-matic features a custom three-piece body crafted from a mahogany core with two chambered ash wings, providing a unique tone and alleviating some of that hefty mahogany weight.

The Spark-o-matic also boasts a slick gloss nitrocellulose lacquer Three Tone Sunburst finish, while the guitar’s 9.5″ maple neck is also finished in satin nitro lacquer to let you rip up the 22 fret rosewood fretboard with ease.

The Fender Spark-o-matic is loaded with a trio of chrome-covered Seymour Duncan SM-1N and SM-3B mini-humbuckers, tapping into the classic rock and blues tones offered by the Firebird. Players can flip between pickup positions via a five-way selector switch, while volume and tone controls make for a simplified setup to streamline your playing experience.

In the hardware department, the Spark-o-matic boasts an upgraded American Pro Jazzmaster bridge with a matching vibrato tremolo, while six ClassicGear tuners, a bone nut and a deluxe hardshell case round out what looks to be another intriguing entry into the Parallel Universe family.
