This triphonic wonder turns everyday electromagnetic fields into immersive sound and light.
Eternal Research’s debut product, the Demon Box, has finally landed for preorder, and it’s unlike anything you’ve seen or heard before.
Equal parts instrument, controller, and exploratory art device, the Demon Box transforms the invisible hum of electromagnetic fields into rich, layered audio and visual experiences. Think of it as a bridge between science and music, where your phone, drill, or toaster can become a new sonic playground.

A triangular design with a purpose
At the heart of the Demon Box is a patented triangular design that uses 33 inductors, grouped into three channels of 11. This “triphonic” approach expands far beyond stereo, offering an immersive spatial sound that can be sculpted and manipulated in real time. Eternal Research founder Alexandra Fierra explains that the shape reflects the company’s philosophy: to invert traditional notions of noise and music, creating a new theory of sound exploration.
Key features
- 33 inductors across three triphonic channels
- Three mono audio ins, three mono outs, and dedicated triphonic output
- 3 CV outputs and MIDI out (DIN + USB-C)
- Works as standalone instrument or audio-visual controller
- Compatible with Max, Jitter, TouchDesigner, DMX lighting and more
For artists, sound designers and beyond
More than a novelty, the Demon Box is aimed squarely at musicians, artists, and sound designers chasing fresh textures and interactive possibilities. Eternal Research’s Bryn Nieboer highlights the creative edge: “Stereo is limited. Three channels allow you to sculpt with panning, phasing, and effects layering in ways that stereo simply can’t.”
The Demon Box will be showcased at Knobcon 2025 in Chicago (Booth B400), with shipping set to begin mid-autumn.
